Government gifted 4.5 percent quota to minorities

In cabinet meeting, Government approved 4.5 percent quota for minorities. This 4.5 percent reservation will be included in the O.B.C (Other Backward Class) quota. This quota will be defined under section 2 (C) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.
The minorities will get 4.5 % seats reserved for Government jobs and Educationals Institutes.
Opposition said that Government declared this quota to attract the voters for coming Elections that will held in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other three states. This decision was taken by cabinet on thursday leaded by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Muslims, Sikhs, Budhists, Jainis and Christians will come under this minorities quota. This Reservation will come into affect from 1 January,2012.Earlier , In a function at Uttar Pradesh Congress’s Secretary Rahul Gandhi revealed that Government is working to provide reservation to Minorities.
Provision for Minorities Reservation was recommended by the National Commission for Religious and Linguistic Minorities.
